Do any STIs only affect men or only affect women?

Martin
Age: 23

I've heard about people carrying diseases but not getting infected themselves. Are there any that only happen to men or women?

Dr. Patrick French says

All STIs can be passed between both men and women. STIs can seem more common in men or women because they can be more obvious in one or another or can be tested for more in one group. And some STIs are more common amongst gay men. For example in the UK the latest figures show that more men have been diagnosed with syphilis but more women have been diagnosed with genital warts and chlamydia.
